"All my guitars are strung with Curt Mangan – Matt Schofield Signature nickel-wound strings in gauge 11-14-18-28-38-54. I discovered Curt’s strings by chance a few years ago, and quickly realized they were the best I’d ever tried. Aside from the great tone and feel, I’ve never broken a single one on a show. In fact, I used graphite saddles on many guitars to prevent breakage before discovering Curt’s strings, which allowed me to go back to my preferred steel saddles.

Curt Mangan strings are made in Cortez Colorado using only USA made wire.  There are loads of reviews out there and nary an ill word, these really are great strings with great tone that tune to pitch quickly and settle fast.

We like to use them tuned down a semi tone where they feel like a great set of 10's but with added punch.

These are like a standard set of 11-48 but with a 54 bottom, so why? well one answer is that a 48 has a tension that is just too low and so flaps about a lot especials on a Gibson scale neck and the 54 brings the tension back to the right place when compared to the 38 A and 28 D and just delivers great tone.
