There are many versions of HSS kits out there but this is one that we like a lot, it has 2 volumes and a master tone. We wire the top volume with a 250K pot for the single coil, a 500K pot for a 4 Wire Humbucker with the option of wiring with a Coil Split, you can select below either a full Coil Split for a really powerfull Humbucker 10K+ or a Partial Coil Split for 8.5K+ Humbuckers. We would not recomend a coil split on a Low Wind pickup. We also fit a 300K pot for the master tone with a 0.05uf capacitor which we find is the best value. This gives you the best of all worlds with the correct value pots for the different pickups.
Of course like all our other kits it's wired with 22 AWG vintage push-back wire for that vintage look and sound. If you are installing this on a guitar with metric sized pots you may need to ream your control plate holes to accept the slightly larger US-Spec pots and buy US-Spec knobs.
In case you do not have the addition volume knob we also offer a knob and tip set with 2 Volume, 1 Tone and matching tips.
Our 5-Way Kits are hand assembled buy us in the UK to improve your tone! We take great pride in using the best components that work and sound better than the stock electronics often found in your guitar. We start by sorting through the already great CTS Total Vintage Tone “TVT” pots to create matched sets to give you an even response when rolling down your volume and tone controls. We then fit a Jupiter Yellow Vintage Tone Capacitor which are designed as a replacement for the Blue Moulded and Yellow Astron capacitors used in early Blackface and 60’s Fender amps. These are way over spec for a guitar tone control but offer a clear smooth control and most importantly they sound great!!
